Fit to Function was founded in 2019 to fill the gap between traditional rehab and lifelong fitness. 

Whether you're recovering from a neurological injury, navigating a complex health condition, or just looking for a supportive local fitness community - you belong here

We offer:

Jenna Muri-Rosenthal

CCC-SLP, CBIS,
CrossFit-L2 Trainer, Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer

Jenna Muri-Rosenthal, Founder of FtF, is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and a Certified Brain​ Injury Specialist (CBIS) with 15+ years of experience in acute care and acute rehabilitation, treating clients with cognitive communication needs at MGH and in the community.

 

She is a CrossFit-Level 2 Trainer and a Certified Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer with over 5+ years of experience coaching group fitness and 1:1 sessions. Jenna is the Director of Operations and part of the Seminar Staff for the Adaptive Training Academy (ATA), where she serves as the Neuro Subject Matter Expert. She also serves on the Board of Directors for ATA's non-profit.

Jenna has a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Certificate in Adult Teaching & Learning from the MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGHIHP). She is an Adjunct Professor in Graduate SLP programs at the MGHIHP and Northeastern University.

Sara McLaughlin

MSPT, CF-L1, Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer

Sara McLaughlin joins the team as a CF Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1), Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer (AIT), and Physical Therapist (MSPT) with over 20 years of experience working with individuals of all ages and limitations, including children with limb loss and limb difference. She has a background in orthopedics and neuro PT.

 

Sara coaches at Daybreak CrossFit in Wayland, provides skilled PT in a Skilled Nursing Facility, and works as a certified Massage Therapist. On top of all of this amazing background and experience, as the mother of a child with a congenital limb difference / amputee, Sara has a personal connection to adaptive training.

From Sara, on adaptive training: “The confidence and independence gained through fitness can be life changing. I appreciate that FtF is filling a gap for people between ending therapy and being able to maximize their potential and reaching their goals for fitness, recreation and life, not what insurance companies have declared to be enough.”

Emily Sheehan

BSN, Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer 

Emily is a nurse (BSN) from Simmons University, who is currently working on her Family Nurse Practitioner Licensure (FNP). She brings seven years of cardiac and emergency nursing experience with certifications in trauma and stroke care. 

Beyond her healthcare background, Emily is a fitness enthusiast with a background in CrossFit, F45, and Pilates. Working in the ER, she frequently takes care of individuals who are coping with the news of life changing diagnoses, and she is thrilled to join the gym and help see people through to better on the other side of these journeys. 

Emily will be using her enthusiasm as an athlete and experience in healthcare to help athletes to crush their fitness and recovery goals. The gym is her happy place, and she hopes to help others feel the same - because fitness is for everybody.

Outside of work you can find Emily traveling, with her nose in a book, running marathons or hanging with her dogs Apollo and Atlas!

Fallon Katz

DPT, CF- L1 Trainer, Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer 

Fallon has a BS in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) and an Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer (AIT), working as a physical therapist at Marathon Physical Therapy and Sports Performance where she specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and pelvic health conditions. Fallon also has experience treating individuals with neurological and autonomic disorders. 

 

Fallon has a background as a competitive swimmer and has over six years of CrossFit experience. Fallon also has spent time working with adaptive athletes, both in wheelchair basketball and rugby, as well as the Special Olympics. She integrates her passion for fitness and training into her rehabilitation approach, and her physical therapy background into her training in the gym, empowering athletes to achieve their goals. 

 

Outside of work, Fallon enjoys hiking, baking, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Liz Loewen

MSW, Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer 

Liz is a trauma-informed coach, social worker, and educator. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from Simmons College, is an Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer, and is pursuing her CrossFit Level 1 Certification. As an adaptive athlete herself, Liz has been a familiar face around the gym, helping out with KidFit and 1:1 sessions. She also coaches a Unified Basketball League for kids with Down syndrome and Autism, and enjoys running, playing basketball, and hanging with her black lab shepherd, Frankie.

Teddy Cox
 

CSCS, CPT, PN1, AIT, CPR/AES

Teddy brings over a decade of personal training experience and a lifetime of athletic pursuits to his coaching, specializing as a trainer in injury rehab and recovery, preventative exercise protocols, and athletic training and performance. Teddy is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), with his Precision Nutrition (PN1) certification, and has added a certification as an Adaptive & Inclusive (AIT) to his repertoire to better serve the community of FtF.

 

Using a unique blend of experiences, he approaches movement and health with an open mind and adaptable attitude. In his philosophy, each client is an individual and requires a specific approach to make the changes they are looking for happen.

 

Teddy has a BA from Berklee College of Music and plays guitar in his free time. He also volunteers with the MSPCA, enjoys carpentry and woodworking with his father in their workshop, and eagerly awaits the opportunity to drop a silly pun at every chance.

Renee Dunham
 

CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer

Renee is a level 2 CrossFit Trainer (CF-L2) and an Adaptive and Inclusive Trainer (AIT). She has a background in strength and conditioning, running, Olympic Lifting. Growing up in Maine, Renee found her first fitness through swimming, which she competed in through college. She has a degree from Mass. College of Art and Design with a BFA in sculpture and glass. Her first job out of school was in a typically male-dominated space, where she needed to gain functional strength to keep up with the everyday physical demands in a sculptural studio setting. Trying her first CrossFit class in 2012 she was surprised by the strong community aspect that reminded her of her years in the pool. Within a year she started coaching, and has since trained across multiple local functional fitness gyms, bringing a blend of her background in strength and conditioning through the approach of functional fitness to FtF. You’ll find Renee coaching TogetherFit classes and delivering 1:1 training to adaptive and non-adaptive athletes alike!
